§ 12-2. Library board—Established; appointments; terms; vacancies; compensation; quorum; student members.

  • (a)

    An advisory board to be known as the "Cocoa Beach Library Board," which board shall consist of seven (7) members, is hereby established.

    (b)

    The members of the said board shall be appointed by the city commission and each shall serve for a term of four (4) years. Any vacancy occurring on the said board shall be filled by the city commission for the expiration of the term of the member whose vacancy is being filled, and all members of the said board shall serve at the pleasure of the city commission and shall receive no compensation for such service. The said library board shall not conduct any business at any meeting thereof unless at least four (4) members are present.

    (c)

    The board may also include two (2) high school student members, a junior and a senior, who shall be appointed by the city commission and each serve for a term of two (2) years. Any vacancy occurring shall be filled by the city commission for the expiration of the term of the member whose vacancy is being filled. The student members will not contribute to making up a quorum, nor will they have deciding votes.
