§ 5-50. Definitions.

  • The following terms, as used in this article, are hereby defined to mean:

    (a)

    Ocean beach: The public beach within the corporate limits of the city and lying between the top of the dune line of the beach and a line parallel thereto and five hundred (500) feet east therefrom.

    (b)

    Motor vehicles: All motor-driven vehicles, excluding police cars or other vehicles owned by the city, vehicles used to service the ocean beach,

    and vehicles for which a permit for temporary use of a closed part of the ocean beach has been issued by the city manager.

    (c)

    Sea dune area: That area of land immediately adjacent to the ocean beach consisting of accumulations of sand in ridges or mounds landward of the ocean beach often stabilized and covered by salt-resistant plants and vegetation indigenous to this formation, including but not limited to sea oats, herbs, woody vegetation, and other growth common to the beach area adjacent to the coastline, which serves as an immediate buffer to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and onshore winds.
