§ 2.10. Mayor.

  • The mayor shall preside at all meetings of the city commission and shall perform any other duties delegated to the mayor by the city commission.

    In support of the actions of the commission, the mayor shall be recognized as the head of the city government by the citizens for all ceremonial purposes, by the governor for purposes of military law, by the courts for service of process, execution of contracts, deeds, and other documents, and by all other governmental agencies as the city official designated to represent the city in all agreements with them. During the temporary absence from the city or during the temporary disability of the mayor, the mayoral duties shall be exercised by a vice-mayor, who shall be elected by the city commission from its own members at its annual organizational meeting.
