§ 10-9. Special refuse problems.

  • (a)

    Contagious disease refuse: The removal of wearing apparel, bedding, or other refuse from homes or similar places where highly contagious or infectious diseases have prevailed shall be performed under the supervision and direction of the Brevard County Health Department. Such refuse shall not be placed in containers for regular collection.

    (b)

    Flammable or explosive refuse: Highly flammable or explosive materials shall not be placed in containers for regular collection and shall be disposed of as directed by the city manager of the City of Cocoa Beach at the expense of the owner or possessor thereof.

    (c)

    Dogs running at large: All dogs will be restrained on the premises so as not to interfere with refuse collectors. Refuse will not be picked up by the refuse collector if a vicious dog is running at large on the premises.

    (d)

    Dead animals: Dead animals will not be deposited in garbage/trash receptacles or mechanical containers for storage and eventual pickup. All dead animals shall immediately be reported to the Brevard County Animal Control Center. Burial of dead animals on private property is prohibited without approval from the Brevard County Animal Control Center.
