Article I. GARBAGE, WASTE AND TRASH COLLECTION |
§ 10-8. Collection.
(a)
Residential: Garbage and household trash accumulated by residences shall be collected not less than two (2) times per week, with collections at least three (3) days apart. Garden and yard trash shall be collected once a week separate from garbage and household trash.
(b)
Rear yard service: Rear yard service shall be available for residential units for an additional monthly fee as provided in section 10-11. Application for rear yard service must be made at city hall. Rear yard service shall be provided at no additional monthly fee to permanently handicapped persons who, because of their disability, are incapable of moving their garbage receptacles to curbside. This exemption shall be obtained from the city sanitation inspector upon presentation of acceptable medical proof of disability of all persons in a residential unit.
(c)
Commercial: All refuse from commercial establishments shall be collected when placed in proper containers not less than six (6) days per week, except where customers require fewer weekly collections than provided under this section.
(d)
Extraordinary collection: Any establishment requiring more than one (1) scheduled collection per day shall be charged at a rate set by the authorized garbage, waste and trash collection service.
(e)
Holidays: There will be no collection on the following holidays: New Year's Day (January 1), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (September), Thanksgiving Day (November), and Christmas Day (December 25).
